What is the Cellar Door?
Our Cellar Door shop is open Monday to Saturday and showcases our wide range of award-winning English still and sparkling wines, spirits, fruit wines, meads, and liqueurs. There is always a selection of English wines and other award-winning products available to taste – just ask our helpful staff.

Monday to Saturday: 10:00 – 16:30 (Closed for lunch 12:30 – 13:15)
Sunday: Closed.
Guided Tasting Experiences 2026
We offer our Gold Guided Tastings Experience at the Cellar Door:
(£35pp): English Wine, Mead & Spirits – 3 Whites, 2 Sparklings, a Rose and a Red plus accompanying nibbles!
Guided Tastings typically last around two and a half hours, we talk you through each wine, how to taste, where the grapes are grown, how it is made and give you a few tips on selecting wine in a shop or restaurant. Each guest also receives winemaker notes on each of the wines sampled and their own Lyme Bay Winery tote bag.
After the tasting, you can have a browse of the Cellar Door shop and enjoy a 10% guest discount on any Lyme Bay goodies that you buy on the day! Tastings are generally held on Friday and Saturday at 1:30pm (season specific). Please note that Guided Wine Tastings need to be pre-booked. There are plenty of reasons to visit our Cellar Door in Shute, nestled in the rolling green hills of East Devon’s Axe Valley. Taste of the West awarded us a coveted Gold medal in 2022 for the Cellar Door on account of “the friendly, knowledgeable and passionate staff who guide guests through the range of drinks – with samples galore!” which we then followed up in 2023 with a Gold medal from Food Drink Devon! We added another Taste of the West Gold in 2024 and have just been awarded a 2026 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, the fourth year in a row that we’ve received this accolade!
Steve and and the team fling open the Cellar Door every Monday to Saturday 10:00am-4.30pm (closed for staff lunch 12.30-1:15) where visitors can sample many of our products and ask our knowledgeable staff any questions you like. Just five miles from the coast, the Lyme Bay Winery Cellar Door is a stone’s throw away from the quaint town of Axminster, and numerous East Devon delights.
