It’s time to wave farewell to the cold dark days of winter. We have faced challenge after challenge over the past few months and now it’s time for some fun! What better way to spend the long summer afternoons and balmy nights, than sipping a delicious cocktail from a chilled glass made with flavoured gins and exclusive ciders from the award-winning Lyme Bay and Jack Ratt collections. So, dust off the patio furniture and polish up your cocktail shaker, we are going to share five of our most delicious recipes. You can have your own taste of the exotic and make any garden space, a haven of relaxation, party central, or where friends and family gather.
Let’s start with one of the classics. Gin Fizz. A frisson of delight on a hot day.
Ingredients:
- • 50ml Lyme Bay Dry Gin
- • 25ml lemon juice
- • 2 tsp sugar syrup
- • ice
- • sparkling water
- • lemon slice
Method
Pour a measure of Lyme Bay dry gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a cocktail shaker and fill up with ice cubes. Shake well until the outside of the shaker feels cold then strain into a tall glass filled with more ice and top up with sparkling water. Garnish with a lemon slice.
Gin and Champagne Cocktail
We all love to try new things and Lyme Bay has a range of the most tantalising gins flavoured with summer fruits ripe for the tasting. Here is a stunning cocktail for drinks with friends. Guaranteed to impress and kick start any celebration. Sweet and floral, nothing says classy garden party like elderflower gin and champagne!
Ingredients:
- • 25ml of Lyme Bay Elderflower & Cucumber gin
- • Lyme Bay Brut Reserve Sparkling-NV
- • Fresh mint sprig
- • Slice of lemon
Method
Add the elderflower gin to a deep glass. Carefully pour the champagne to the top and garnish with lemon slices and mint!
Tom Collins
This is very simple recipe is an exciting twist on another classic cocktail, the Tom Collins. It can also count as ‘one of your five a day’.
Ingredients:
- • 50ml Lyme Bay Pink Grapefruit Gin
- • 25ml Lemon Juice
- • 25ml Sugar Syrup
- • 125ml Soda Water
Method
Place plenty of ice into a tall cocktail glass. Pour over the ingredients and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of pink grapefruit.
Cider and Gin Cocktail
This Cider and Gin cocktail will not only dance on your palate; it’s fresh and light and a feast for the eyes. This version features the delectable Annings crushed Pink grapefruit and Pineapple cider.
Ingredients:
- • 2 Oz. Lyme Bay Dry Gin
- • .5 Oz. Lemon juice
- • .5 Oz. Simple syrup
- • Annings Crushed Pink Grapefruit and Pineapple Cider
Method
Chill your glass, a tall glass works well for this drink. Add Lyme Bay Dry Gin, lemon juice and simple syrup to the shaker with ice. Stir it all up, and strain into your glass that has fresh ice. Top up with Annings Crushed Pink Grapefruit and Pineapple and garnish with apple, lemon, or your herb or spice of choice.
Cider Sangria
And to complete our quintet of recipes, one from across the pond. A cocktail using the best of British ingredients from Lyme Bay with American ‘know how’. A light cocktail for the sunniest of afternoons.
Ingredients:
- • 1/2 cup Lyme Bay Pinot Noir Rose
- • 1/4 cup Annings Strawberry and Lime cider
- • dash of cinnamon
- • 1/2 cup chopped apple
- • 1/4 cup sparkling water
- • 2 teaspoons of maple syrup (optional)
- • 1-2 cinnamon sticks
Method
In a glass, mix together Lyme Bay Pinot Noir, Annings Strawberry and Lyme Cider, maple syrup (optional) and dash of cinnamon until well mixed. Stir in apple. Refrigerate about 2-3 hours. Top up with sparkling water and serve with cinnamon sticks.
