The daffodils are dancing, lambs are skittering about, and the evenings seem decidedly lighter, which can only mean one thing – spring is about to make an entrance.
If you’re looking for some ‘drinkspiration’ to toast the start of the new season, then English wines are the perfect choice to welcome in the warmer weather.
Chardonnay
If you’re planning to put on a springtime spread, our Lyme Bay Chardonnay is an excellent choice of English wine because it complements so many different dishes.
A full-bodied, dry wine with subtle buttery flavours and aromas of honey, punctuated by hints of brioche, peach turnover and pineapple, it pairs perfectly with salami, olives, wild mushrooms and truffles, garden tomatoes and basil, fresh cod or monkfish, calamari, butter sauces, roasted white and brown meats, fresh green herbs, ginger, and semi-soft or mildly smoked cheese.
Sparkling Rosé
For the sweeter-toothed English wine connoisseur, our classy Sparkling Rosé boasts a bright, fruit-driven palate of wild strawberries, pepper and redcurrant with the richness of honey and hints of brioche and almond.
Another great match with fish dishes, it’s a light choice to serve alongside sushi and sashimi, mullet, tuna, tomato-based dishes, full-flavoured duck dishes, charcuterie, and desserts with red fruits.
Pinot Noir
Our Pinot Noir won gold at the 2018 Independent English Wine Awards and is making a name for itself as a powerful but elegant wine.
Balanced layers of vanilla, cocoa, roasted coffee beans and cherry give way to blackcurrant and strawberry, layered with toasty oak for a silky smooth finish.
To really mix things up, serve it lightly chilled and match it with stronger tasting dishes such as seared duck breast, salmon or tuna, and bold fruity salads with red berries or pomegranate.
