The clocks have sprung forward and the ‘Rule of 6’ has been reinstated for outdoor gatherings just in time for Easter, which is a good enough reason for a celebration in our book.
Whether you are planning a catch-up picnic with friends, or an Easter family barbeque feast in your garden, may we suggest a cool glass of English cider as the perfect accompaniment for fresh-air festivities.
We, of course, have always been cider fans. Here at Lyme Bay Winery we’ve been expertly crafting our range of award-winning ciders for more than 20 years using the pressed juice from local growers Somerset Cider Brandy who provide us with traditional cider apple varieties such as Dabinett, Kingston Black and Yarlington Mill. We are continually innovating our flavour combinations to offer something new
Jack Ratt Barrel Select Cider
The latest addition to our cider family is Jack Ratt Barrel Select Cider made by ageing our traditional West Country cider in barrels formerly home to spiced rum. The result is a rounded, full-bodied, still cider with sweet notes of apple, vanilla and spice that pairs perfectly with the tangy cheese and pickle flavours of a Ploughman’s lunch.
Jack Ratt Vintage Still Cider
If you are barbequing your way through the Easter weekend, our full-bodied Jack Ratt Vintage Still Cider cuts through the sweetness of lamb kebabs, as well as making a mouth-watering match for flame-grilled pork sausages and chops, or bacon-topped burgers.
Jack Ratt Vintage Sparkling Cider
For those who are better pleased by a platter of cheese, our Jack Ratt Vintage sparkling cider is just the ticket. Full-bodied with a rich, apple tannin aroma and a long, smooth finish it makes a brilliant drink alongside all kinds of cheeses – but especially soft cheeses such as brie, camembert, brie and ricotta.
Annings all the way
Made exclusively by us, Annings Fruit Ciders come in six delicious fruity flavour combinations that perfectly balance the tanginess of the cider apples.
We make these refreshing thirst-quenchers by blending real fruit extracts and juices with dessert-apple-based cider to create a range of interesting and tasty flavours that are a world away from the sugary alternatives on the market.
Annings Pear & Mint Fruit Cider combines cider with the aromatic flavours of pear extract and garden mint, for a deliciously heady aroma and a lingering clean fresh finish. Serve over ice for an invigorating treat on a sunny day.
Alternatively, our limited edition Annings Elderflower & Cucumber Fruit Cider is a palate-cleansing pleaser made with the light and refreshing combination of elderflower juice and cucumber extracts.
Lyme Bay Winery drinks offers
Although we can’t offer sampling at the moment, our wonderful Winery shop is open on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-3pm (including Good Friday and Easter Monday), and you can also order drinks from us online and take advantage of our regular monthly discounts. Visit our website for details.
This month we have some tasty offers on all our Annings fruit ciders, as well as most of our Jack Ratt range, so stock up on some refreshing drinks for Spring while stocks last.
In the meantime, if you are looking for an interesting Easter gift that’s a little better for heart and soul than a chocolate egg, we’ve produced a special crisp and refreshing Scrumpy Cider to support the Donkey Sanctuary based near the Winery.
We will donate 10 pence from every bottle sold to help support the Donkey Sanctuary and their four-legged residents while they are unable to open at the moment. And until midnight on April 4th every purchase of Donkey Sanctuary Cider enters you into a prize draw to win £50 to spend on our website!
Whether you are raising a glass with friends or family, or keeping things ‘virtual’ for the time being, we love to see your ‘drinkspirations’ via our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages, so do let us know how you are celebrating Easter.
