National Drink Days allow you to enjoy mini celebrations throughout the year, and as the majority fall on a weekend, it can help you turn a mundane one into something a bit more special. We’ve noted some of the most important days (in our opinion) below so make sure you mark them on your calendar and get stocked up with the relevant drinks beforehand – you won’t want to miss out!
National Hot Buttered Rum Day – January 17th
Hot buttered rum is one of the oldest drinks in America, dating back to the mid-1600s when Jamaica first started exporting molasses, from which rum was made. The first distilleries in New England opened which led to Colonists adding rum to their hot drinks, leading to the creation of hot buttered rum.
If you want to try buttered rum for yourself, we’ve got a recipe for it in our winter warming cocktails piece, so why not grab yourself a bottle of Lugger Spiced Rum or Lugger Golden Rum and try it for yourself?
National Drink Wine Day – February 18th
Definitely one of our favourite days of the year, as you can imagine! It gives the perfect excuse for you to crack open a bottle of English wine and put your feet up – you’ve earned it!
Open That Bottle Night – Last Saturday of February (25th in 2023)
Have you got a bottle of something that you’ve been holding onto for a special occasion? Well, this is that day. The day was created by wine critics Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher in the late 1990s, encouraging their readers to open a significant bottle and share their stories – why don’t you do the same and let us know the significance of your bottle?
National Beer Day – April 7th in the US, June 15th in the UK
This national day is celebrated on two different dates depending on whether you are based in the UK or the US. While we might not have any beers for you to celebrate with, you could always swap it for our Blackbeer and Raisin wine – we won’t tell anyone!
